For the 6th consecutive year, the New England Anime Society, the parent organization of Anime Boston and Providence Anime Conference, will be conducting screenings of a variety of anime as a part of First Night Boston.
First Night Boston is the country's oldest and largest New Year's arts celebration. On December 31, 2008 from 1 pm to midnight, First Night presents a day-long festival of art, music, dance, ice sculpture, fireworks, and more. First Night is an alcohol-free event that welcomes children, families and revelers of all ages to celebrate community and unity through the arts. First Night 2009 will feature over 1000 artists in 200 exhibitions and performances in over 40 locations in downtown Boston. Times and exact locations can be found at www.firstnight.org.
For more information on the anime screenings, visit http://firstnight.neanime.org/
Anime Boston staff will be on hand for anyone that wants to pre-register for Anime Boston 2009. Don't forget...December 31st is your last chance for the $35 registration rate!

Hey everyone! Do you have a friend who wants to come to PAC but doesn't have a place to stay? Are they an stock market investor and now no longer have the funds for registration? Maybe they're just kind-hearted souls who want to lend a hand and help? Tell them to join the Providence Anime Conference Support Team!
Some conventions call them "Volunteers". Some call them "Gophers". We call it "Support Team" because they're awesome. Think of the Support Team as the ultimate volunteers.
Running a convention is no easy task and we're looking for people to lend a hand. If you're interested, contact our Support Team Manager, James Kent:

If you have a friend who is interested, point them to our Support Team page:

I just wanted to post a reminder to people that the cut-off date for our room block is September 5th 30th. If you want to get a room at the Westin at the convention rate, you should do so ASAP.
Details can be found here:
http://providenceanime.com/location/hotel/
The Westin is attached to the Rhode Island Convention Center. It's a very nice hotel and the most convenient location. All the staff will be staying there as well.

When you convince a friend to register for PAC, you can earn a $5 referral bonus! When you arrive at PAC, we'll hand you $5 for everyone you referred (up to 10 people, $50 maximum) as thanks. All your friends have to do is enter your e-mail address as the referrer so that we know you referred them.
Full details on our referral program can be found in our Registration FAQ...but that's the gist.
So, get out there! Tell your friends about PAC! Get them to come join the fun and you'll get $5 for every person you get to register (again, up to $50).
As far as I know, this is the first time any convention has ever offered any sort of referral program. Hopefully, a lot of you will be able to benefit from it.
